Building Services 2

 

Introduction

This subject is the continuation of Building Services 1. This semester we learned more about heating, ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) system, fire protection system, vertical transportation System and electrical distribution systems. This time round the topics we coverd are based on lager buildings like commercial or industrial buildings. These systems are important for us to understand so we can come up with better ideas and solutions to save cost for our clients in the future if any problems or configurations of systems is to be made on the constructon project.

 

Assignment 1

The task of this assignment was to produce a report based on a case study in relevant to the lectures delivered in class and to prepare a presentation regarding the report. My group had chosen a case study based on Subang Parade for our report. It was an advantage for us to have permission form the Subang Parade maintainence management to bring us around to investigate the systems installed in the building. It was an interesting assignment because I got to add on my knowledge based on the topic that was assigned to. The tour around the building was rather interesting as we get practical and hands on information of the systems available. Besides that, the presentation for the report also gave me the opportunity to speak up in front of a crowd. That gave me a moment to boost up my presenting skills and communication skills as it is important to know how to deliver a message through presenting. What more when I had the chance to present the report that was already done.
