Measurement 5

 

Introduction

Measurement 5 is the last module of measurements for this Quantity Surveying Degree. This subject is lead and taught by 2 lecturers who are Mr Ramar and Mr Simon Chee. Both lecturers had their own topic to lecture us on. Mr Ramar lectured us on electrical, cold water, sewerage, fire fighting and HVAC systems based on SMM2 while Mr Simon lectured us on civil engineering works based on MYCESMM.

 

Assignment 1 

This assignment is a group project where we formed a group of 5 students in total to calculate the cold water system of a 3 storey resediential house. Drawings were provided by the lecturer however the method of taking off was up to the students to decide. As a team we worked together to divide the parts and measure them together as the system is connected as a whole. It was challenging as we had to imagine how the pipe runs throughout the project thus we drew up an isometric drawing to avoud confusion while taking off.

 

Mid-term Test

The mid term test was based on the topics taught by mr Simon which are civil engineering works as the assignment was based on Mr Ramar's topics. Thus for the midterm the question was to come up with the measurments of a sediment basin. based on the drawings ans MYCESMM book provided we were suppose to come up with the measurments within 2 hours.
