Building Economics

 
Introduction

This module provides an understanding to building economics. This subject elaborates on the construction pre tender stage, the concept of cost control, cost modeling, cost analysis, the effect of cost in forming an economical building and whole life costing and value engineering. The subject is quite difficult to digest as the notes given by the lecturer is quite comprehensive.

 

Assignment 1

This assignemnt was done under a workshop that was conducted under a special guest, Mr Eugene Seah from Langdon and Seah Singapore. We were assigned to produce a cost appraisal in 2 days. All we were provided with was a project brief and guideline and we had to start from scratch. Knowing next to nothing on how to create a cost appraisal it was difficult. however with the help f the lecturer and Mr Eugene we managed to produce the appraisal within the time given. The cost appraisal was then presented infront of a panel of judges which consist of Mr Eugene, Sr Eddie, Sr Suhaimi, Ms Ang (Programme Director), Mr Tony (Dean of SABD).
