Professional Practice 2

 

Introduction

This subject provides an overview of professional and contractual responsibilities of a quantity surveyor in the consultant group from the design stage to the final account stage. Compared to Professional Practice 1, we learn for about the PAM form in this subject. It focuses on the importance of a clear understanding of the disputes in claims and payments, insurance, partial posessions, final accounts and the quantity surveying act.

 

Assignment 1

The asiigment given to us was a group assignment where we grouped in a group of 6 people. a list of question regarding final accounts and problems on settling final accounts of variation orders were assigned to us. As professional consultants, we were suppose to advice the clients and come up with solutions to deal with the problems arrised. It was intersting to manage to reason all the problems and come up with solutions in an ethical manner to the clients.

 

Presentation

 

This presentation is carried out a week later after each lecture. We were grouped in 3 by the lecturer to present a the topic of the last lecture every week during tutorials. This method of teaching is quite effective as we would do extra reading to present the topic assigned to us. Besides it helps us to refresh what we learned the previous week. By presenting we also improve out communation and interaction skills.
