Measurement 4

 

Introduction

Measurement 4 covers the topic of bored piles, timber piles, steel piles, renovation and demolition works and various elements of external works. This subject also exposes the students on the principles of specification writing, form of specification writing and their uses for the various trades.

 

Assignment 1 

This assignment is a group project where a group of 6 students is grouped to measure all elements of a double storey building including the production of the Bills of Quantities and culminating in the preparation of a set of Tender Documents for calling of tender. My teammates and I chose to conduct this assignment based on a double storey semi-detached show house. The assignment was challenging as there were few elements that was designed in a way that we were not tought on how to measure. For an example a spiral staircase. however with proper guidance we managed to extingush and pull through the assignment as a group. 

 

Assignment 2

 

This assignment is based on an Elemental Cost Analysis (ECA) Workshop where a group of up to 11 students are grouped to prepare a detail cost analysis of a building project culminating in the preparation of a ECA report. Overall I've gained new experiences and knowledge from undergoing this assignment. ECA is avery important knowledge for a quantitiy surveyor in the working field however not many practice it. I am very fortunate to have gained the knowledge on the preparation of an ECA report.
