Project Management

 

Introduction

This module provides an introduction on project management that is implemented in our module. This subject is related to another profession called project manager. As a quantity surveyor we sometimes would be taking the lead as a project manager in a construction project. Hence, this subject would be very helpful to us as the knowledge we gain can be applied in our line of profession.

 

Assignment 1

For this assignment, we were assigned to propose a type of development for a land that is located next to Taylor's University. We formed a group consisting of 5 students and started delegating the tasks. Prior to the decision of the development, there were a few constrains that were taken into consideration. We were assigned to produce a report on the development followed with reasonable justifications, benefits, budgets and etc. We came into a conclusion on developing a bus station as we are still facing a problem of efficient public transport system in Malaysia. 

 

Assignment 2

The second assignment was an individual assignment which involves producing a work schedule for a water pump station. A case study on the requirements of the construction terms of the project was provided. From the relevant information, we were taught to use Microsoft Project, a commonly used scheduling tool to produce our interpreted work schedule. This assignment has allowed me to gain a new hard skill on learning how to generate a schedule using the software available.
