Effective Public Communication
Class Test
There is no final exam for this subject however we do have class test. This test covers most of the topics we have learned. One of the section in the test requires us to watch a video about body language before the test to be able to answer the question. the test consisted of several sections; multiple choice questions, fill in the blanks, and also essay writing. It was a tough paper but i managed to finish it in time.
Individual Essay
In this essay we were assigned to pick a question and relate the theories that we have learned in this subject while writing the essay. My question was to look at the difference between communication online and communicating face to face and examine how vocal cues are important to communication. The assignment was interesting because we conduct communication everyday and sometimes misunderstandings might occur. Most of the time the problem occurs because of vocal cues that we use. From the assignment I learned that vocal cues are very important in communicating.
Group Project - Illustrations and Scripts
This is the final project for the subject and we were asked to from a group of five people. We then chose the topic 'Conflict and Negotiation' and decided to do a script instead of an illustration. Our script was mainly about the conflicts and negotiation in a love relationship. From the script we managed to relate and express some of the situations with the theories that we have learned in this subject. For example intrapersonal conflict, obliging, compromising and perceived inference. It was fun as we came up with many ideas to write and create the script.
Reflection
At the end of this semester, I have learned a lot from this subject. There were many theories that I can relate and apply in my everyday life. Besides that, I am able to understand and communicate better with people around me upon completing the semester. The communication skills that I have learned can be applied in my everyday life and it can also be useful in the near future as I will be communicating with many more people in my life. This allows me to build a healthy and positive relationship while interacting with people.
