This assignment requires us to observe and analyse a vegetable that we chose. It deepens out capacity to observe and improves our descriptive writing. The vegetable that I chose for this assignment is the radish. Throughout the assignment I came across many things that I didn't know about a radish. I had to stay focus while analyzing and observing my vegetable. It took my quite sometime to get it done however the information i got was satisfying. With that, I manage to improve my vocabulary by describing the radish. It is interesting how observing something in detail gives you so much information. this assignment taught me to improve my descriptive writing just by observing in detail.
For this assignment we were asked to pick either historical or musical movie genre and write up a compare or contrast essay. I picked the historical genre and wrote my contrast essay on the movie 'Lincoln' and 'The Iron Lady'. This assignment was rather interesting and fun as we had to watch the two selected movies before starting the assignment. I picked these two movies because both the movies were about great leaders of a country. This assignment did not only thought me how to write up a contrast essay but it also allows me to gain more knowledge about these two leaders.
Class Assignment 3: Class Debate
This assignment is a class debate which consist of three people in a team. The topic that was given to our group was "Customer service in Malaysia leaves much to be desired.". My group was for that topic. It was interesting as we learned the right way in debating on a topic. Although my rebuttal wasn't really good, it was a fair debate. This class assignment taught me how to speak up my points in a debate. Besides that, we also learned to present our arguments in a brief and right way so that everyone can understand our points in the debate.
For the final project, we were assigned to form a group of three people to carry out the assignment. We had to search three businesses that were in the same line and interview them to write up a comparison report based on their business. Our group chose to do an interview based on food and beverage businesses. One of the business had to be from Penang and the other two from the Klang Valley or vice versa. From that, we chose to do out interviews on 'Who's Bryan Restaurant" in Penang and in the Klang Valley we interviewed 'Chili's' and 'Italiannies'. Based on the information we had, we did a comparison report on the marketing strategy that these businesses used. This assignment helped me improve my speaking skills when I did the interviews. Besides that, it was interesting as I got the chance to add my knowledge about the business world.
Reflection
English is a very important language today. That is why learning and improving on our English is very important. The subject has taught me many things and had helped me improve my English in many ways. I feel that my vocabulary and writing skill has improved from where my standard was the last time. Besides that, there are many things that I have learned form this subject for example I learnt to debate the right way and also to deepen my observation to obtain more information from an object. However I believe that there is still room for improvement on my speaking skills.
